Overview

From the North of Kenya to the Heart of Masai Mara is Travel Wild’s classic route through Kenya’s northern circuit — a floodlit waterhole beneath the Aberdare forest, Samburu’s dry-country specials, a private rhino and chimpanzee sanctuary at Sweetwaters, Lake Nakuru’s flamingo-lined shore, and a close with two full days in the Masai Mara.

The Journey – Your Itinerary

1 Night · Lunch & Dinner

Pickup from JKI Airport and drive to the Aberdare Country Club (3 hours) for lunch.

Then drive to The Ark and enjoy game viewing from the lodge with a floodlit waterhole for a chance to see buffalo, waterbuck, elephant, lion and baboon up-close. Dinner and overnight at The Ark.

Day 2
Depart after breakfast for the Samburu National Reserve (3 hours). Lunch at the lodge, then afternoon game drive. The Samburu Game Reserve is actually a collection of 3 national parks and boasts perhaps the most impressive diversity of wildlife in Kenya. Overnight in Samburu.

THE STAY — SAMBURU SOPA LODGE

Day 3
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu, returning to the lodge for lunch. Keep watchful of the park’s leopards, more common here than anywhere else in Kenya. Lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and hippo also call Samburu home.

1 Night · Fullboard

After breakfast, drive to the OL Pejeta Sanctuary for lunch (3 hours). Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and enjoy an afternoon game drive through this private reserve. Lions, antelope, rhino and elephant are especially abundant here. Overnight at Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

THE STAY — SERENA SWEETWATERS TENTED CAMP

1 Night · Fullboard

Depart Sweetwaters and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park (3.5 hours) in time for lunch at the lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Nakuru. Be on the lookout for flamingo, rhinoceros, giraffe, cheetah and a host of other wildlife found in the park.
Return for dinner and overnight at the lodge in Nakuru.

THE STAY — EGRET SAVANNA CAMP

2 Nights · Fullboard

Day 6
Depart after breakfast, driving past the Loita Plains and on to the Masai Mara Game Reserve (5 hours), arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in the Mara. View over 70 species of large animals and 470 species of bird. Overnight at the lodge in the Masai Mara.

THE STAY — BASECAMP MASAI MARA

Day 7
Morning and afternoon games drives in the Masai Mara, returning to the lodge for lunch. Observe the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, lion, warthog and many other species that populate the Mara. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in the Masai Mara.

Enjoy a final breakfast at the lodge, then depart for Nairobi (5 hours). Dropoff at JKI Airport.
