Nyerere to Ruaha flies south from Dar es Salaam into Nyerere National Park, Tanzania’s largest — four times the size of the Serengeti — then on to Ruaha, one of Africa’s largest protected wildernesses with barely a handful of other visitors at any time. This is Tanzania’s south: the parks almost no one has seen, at a price that makes exploring them an easy decision.

DAY 2
A boating safari on the Rufiji River, game drives in search of the Big Five, Roan antelope and African wild dog, and a guided walking safari make for a rare mix of activities no northern-circuit park can match.
A short morning flight crosses to Nyerere National Park; afternoon game drive on arrival.

THE STAY — SERENA MIVUMO RIVER LODGE
Grace and style at Mivumo River Lodge, on the banks of the Rufiji River overlooking Stiegler’s Gorge.

Day 3
A boating safari on the Rufiji River, in search of the Big Five along the banks and Stiegler’s Gorge.

Day 4
A guided walking safari, with a chance of Roan antelope and African wild dog on the game drives that follow.

A hidden riverbed camp, in one of Africa’s most remote parks.

Day 5
Private game-drive vehicle and private guide throughout the stay, rare night game drives, and bush breakfast, sundowner or bush lunch options fill the days, among one of East Africa’s largest elephant populations.
A further flight south crosses into Ruaha National Park; afternoon game drive on arrival.

THE STAY — LABA JONGOMERO
The luxury of a completely secluded lodge, offering an immersive plunge into wild and preserved nature.

Day 6
A rare night game drive after dark, with a private vehicle and guide throughout the stay.

Day 7
A full day of game drives with a bush breakfast, sundowner or bush lunch option out in the wilderness.

Transfer to the airstrip for the scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam, connecting to the international departure.
