Akagera to Nyungwe Forest takes its name from the two parks that could not be more different — Rwanda’s only savannah, and its oldest rainforest — with the country’s signature mountain gorilla encounter at the centre. The Journey – Your Itinerary

1 Night · Bed & Breakfast

A private meet-and-greet from the airport leads into a guided city tour and a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Rwanda’s principal place of remembrance for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

3 Nights · All-Inclusive

Rwanda’s only savannah park, and the only exclusive-use concession within it.

Conservation successes have restored the Big Five to Akagera, including reintroduced lion, black rhino and white rhino. Wilderness Magashi, the park’s only exclusive-use area, offers morning and afternoon game drives plus boat-based activities on Lake Rwanyakazinga, with private-area access keeping sightings quieter.

Day 2
Drive east from Kigali into Akagera National Park; check in at Wilderness Magashi, with an afternoon game drive across the private concession.

Day 3
A full day of game drives in search of the Big Five, including reintroduced lion and black and white rhino.

Day 4
A private boat safari on Lake Rwanyakazinga, spotting hippo, crocodile and waterbirds, alongside a further game drive.

Day 5

A golden monkey trek through the bamboo forests, followed by a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
